Example of Overhead boom Option
This is an example of a 750kva stand installed in the customers plant.  It has three booms installed, one for the LV test leads one for the MV and one for the DC test leads.

The customer wanted the DC portion located in a separate enclosure bolted on the right rear of the main enclosure.
boom 1
Efficiency option on left, LV section in center, MV contactor cabinet on right.  Leads hanging in right foreground are  LV leads coming out of end of LV boom. The LV boom can be seen coming out of the top of the main enclosure just to the right of the efficiency cabinet section. The MV boom is coming out of the top of the main enclosure just to the left of the MV section and is swung around the right side of the main enclosure out of the way.

Boom 2
This is the right end of the main enclosure. To the left is the MV section which houses the MV power contactors. In the center is the DC section which is a separate cabinet bolted to the rear of the main enclosure. The large cabinet in the right side of the picture is a 1000kva MV transformer that supplies the MV  for the main stand.  The leads hanging in front of the MV transformer cabinet are the MV leads coming out of the end of the MV overhead boom which has been swung around out of the way. The DC boom has been swung around behind the MV transformer cabinet to keep them out of the way until needed.. The DC cabinet is actually stand alone and could be unbolted from the main cabinet and moved anywhere in the shop and bolted to the floor complete with its own boom if the customer wanted to.  Of course a source of 480 volt 3phase would have to be brought to it.

Boom 3

This shot gives a better idea of the overall test stand and the location of the overhead booms and various cabinet sections.  The main  cabinet  is approxmately 11ft long, (left to right), 6ft 4inches tall , 4ft deep  the boom  ends (where the leads come ou)t are 7ft above the floor. The overall height of the booms are 10ft above the floor. The DC cabinet was 30 inches square. The main cabinet plus the DC cabinet weighted close to 6000 lbs.  The  1000kva MV transformer is about 7.5 ft tall 5ft square and weighted near 5500 lbs. It was very important to this customer that he test stand "look good" because he wanted to bring in propective customers and show them his new capability.  His own  shop people said the stand was " big , heavy and beautiful". It looks to me like he is going all out to show a clean  professional shop and I am proud to have my stand in his shop.
